Lake & Local, downtown Greensboro’s premiere small event venue, is excited to host a Summer Family Fun Day in their unique and beautiful palm garden on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 10:00am-6:00pm.
Lake & Local is both a retail space, boasting products sourced from Southern small businesses, including some local makers, and a small event venue with indoor and outdoor event spaces for rent. Since its opening in January 2022, owners Kelly Parham and Kirsten Thompson have hosted many events for the community, including DIY classes teaching guests how to make soy candles, clay earrings, charcuterie board design, and much more.
In April 2022, Lake & Local hosted Easterfest and welcomed members of the community to spend time with the Easter bunny, paint rocks for the garden, and participate in Easter crafts. After the success of that community event, Kelly and Kirsten have decided to host more events that are free to the community of Greensboro.
On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Lake & Local will host a Summer Family Fun Day in the garden. The shop and garden will be open for normal business hours, from 10:00am-6:00pm. Featured activities and offerings for the community include yard games, hot dogs, live music and more.
Free hot dogs and drinks will be available from 11:00am-2:00pm, while supplies last. Local musicians Bob & Cat will be performing live in the garden from 11:00am-1:00pm. The Kona Ice Truck will also be available from 1:00pm-3:00pm offering a sweet summer treat for the family!
In addition to the activities, guests will be able to purchase Krispy Kreme doughnuts, while supplies last, as part of a fundraiser for a local UGA student raising money for a Study Abroad program to further their education. Preorders are available on the website at lakeandlocal.com and can be picked up on June 11, 2022, during Summer Family Fun Day.
Throughout the day, the community is invited to hang out in the garden and enjoy yard games such as cornhole and giant Connect Four, visit the shop and pick up some summer necessities such as quick-dry beach towels and Lake Oconee tees and tanks, and walk around downtown Greensboro to enjoy the other shops in the area.
Lake & Local is located at 104 South Main Street in downtown Greensboro, Georgia. Store hours are Tuesday - Thursday, 11:00am-5:00pm, and Friday - Saturday, 10:00am - 6:00pm.
