After four successful charcuterie classes in 2022, it was time to change things up! Chef Brent Mero led our first dessert charcuterie class on Saturday, March 4th to a sold out group of excited participants.
In addition to this being the first dessert charcuterie class, it was also our first workshop in our new workshop space in the front of the shop. It was fun for owners Kelly and Kirsten to be part of the class this time, rather than the class being held in the back of the building.
The workshop space was set up for 16 students, each getting a Lake & Local apron to wear during the class, and a beautiful wood board to take home. Chef Brent set up at the front of the shop with room to demonstrate food techniques and to display the ingredients for the dessert board.
Students received instruction on ways to dress up their boards. For example, Chef Brent showed students how to use a paring knife to create a rose with a strawberry.
Students were given a few sweet dips, like a caramel rum fruit dip and a hot chocolate dip, as well as dippers like pretzel sticks, graham crackers, marshmallows, and fruit.
Students went to work creating their own unique dessert boards while enjoying wine and laughs with their friends. Overall, it was a fun class! Participants are already looking forward to more food-related workshops, which will be added to the calendar soon!
